Wednesday coffee
|
Every Wednesday from 10.30-11.30 a.m. This is a regular event which has been happening since the 1980s, begun in the days when Rev. Andrew Foster was Minister of the Church. It is supported now by a group of about twenty people who enjoy the chance to chat over a cup of coffee or tea. There’s no charge, but most people make a small donation. Together, these donations pay for all the tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits which are used whenever refreshments are needed at St. Andrew’s, as well as adding £250-£300 per year to Church funds. Some people can only come occasionally, but are always made welcome and we love having visitors. New ‘guests’ are always welcome, and you’ll find a warm and happy fellowship. It is a good way to get to know people. Sometimes, when a birthday is being celebrated, there are scones and cake which everyone enjoys! And, of course, all tea and coffee is Fair Trade. On the first Wednesday each month, gifts of home baking are collected and taken to St. Oswald’s Hospice where they are very gratefully received. Why not come along and join the party! |
